The final group project of my UX/UI bootcamp involved researching, prototyping, FE developing, and testing a new mobile application aimed at solving a real, clearly identified need in users’ everyday lives. My team and I decided to create ‘Brewly,’ a coffee recommendation app. The app aims to provide users with a personalized digital experience by offering coffee recommendations based on their preferences. As someone who enjoys coffee and is passionate about learning more about its different brewing methods, I found this project exciting. The app is designed not only to educate users about coffee but also to offer them personalized recommendations, tasting profiles, and a community-driven experience. It includes features like interactive brewing guides, tasting notes, gamified learning, and recipe sharing, making it the perfect tool for coffee enthusiasts looking to deepen their knowledge and share their passion with friends and family.”
OBJECTIVES
- To design and develop a coffee recommendation app that provides users with an easy personalized digital experience that offers coffee recommendations based on preferences.
- Introduce and educate consumers about coffee and it’s brewing methods so that they are able to learn more about recipes, tasting profiling, methods, quality and more.
- To share the knowledge and recipes earned through the application to friends and family.
STRATEGY
The strategy begins with conducting user research and competitive analysis to understand coffee preferences, habits, and gaps in existing solutions. The app will use AI-driven algorithms to offer personalized coffee recommendations based on user preferences, gathered through a quiz-style onboarding process. To enhance coffee knowledge, the app will feature an interactive library with brewing guides, tasting notes, and recipes, complemented by gamified learning tools and expert-led video content. Community-building will be achieved through social features like recipe sharing, themed groups, leaderboards, and a “Coffee Journal” for users to document and share their experiences. An MVP will focus on delivering personalized recommendations, foundational education, and core community features, with iterative updates based on user feedback to expand functionality and engagement.
